Mediterranean Seed Bugs (rhyparochromis vuelgaris and raglius alboacuminatus)

These small black beetles with distinctive markings on their back are originally native to Europe and the Mediterranean.  They are now locally abundant in areas of Washington, Oregon and California,  They can be very abundant around grass fields and areas surrounding your house where amounts of grass or mulch are in contact with the structure.  They do not cause damage to the house, humans or pets; but they can become a huge annoyance when they migrate inside the structure.  The good news is they can be managed (but not controlled) by treating them with our chemical spray.  They are an ongoing problem that is not eradicated with one spray.  These have been imported into our area, originally coming from the Orting area and then they have been spreading ever since.

The Department of Agriculture has no clue as to how to eliminate them, but we have found so far that one of the chemicals used in our maintenance program will help to reduce the numbers.
